High value-added manufacturing in Riga
Riga's sustainable development strategy designates Granīta street and Šķirotava as a priority development area for resource-intensive industry - companies needing greater electrical capacity, water resources and land, with heavy-vehicle access that avoids the city centre.

Why this sector, here
Three arguments, in the order a manufacturer weighs them.
Designated land with an industrial neighbour set already in place. Grindeks, Forevers, Kalceks, Schneider Electric, DB Schenker and Groglass operate at Granīta street, and Grindeks has announced plans to develop a 3-hectare site there.
Logistics reach. From the Port of Riga, goods reach the Baltic states, Stockholm, Helsinki and Warsaw within 24 hours and Scandinavia within 48.
Tax treatment on the freeport. The Port of Riga operates under a special economic zone regime with significant tax relief and favourable rules for goods movement and storage.

Logistics infrastructure
Port of Riga: 16.7 million tonnes of cargo, 2,494 ships served, connections to ports in more than 50 countries. Rail Baltica, when complete, is designed to handle at least 13 million tonnes of cargo per year on a 1,435 mm European-gauge line connecting Helsinki, Tallinn, Riga and Warsaw - 265 km of it in Latvia. Riga Airport handled 7.11 million passengers with more than 90 direct destinations. The Northern transport corridor, a planned 30 km west-east expressway bypassing the historic centre, will connect the port directly to the European road network.
Who is already here
Grindeks · Kalceks · Schneider Electric · DB Schenker · Groglass · Forevers · Mikrotīkls (network equipment, €1,184.2 million company value) · Latvijas Finieris (€508.1 million)
What applies to you
Special Economic Zones offer an 80% rebate on corporate income tax and real estate tax - genuinely relevant here, unlike for office-based operations. Corporate income tax deferred until profit distribution. Green Corridor fast-tracking with a single named curator. Up to 90% real estate tax reduction on qualifying Riga projects.
What we don't publish
Available industrial land by plot, with pricing. Permit and construction timelines. Engineering and technical graduate output. Electrical capacity available at Granīta street. Every one of these decides a manufacturing case and none is in a citable public source - Poland's PAIH publishes a free national investment property database and Riga has no equivalent. For site-specific questions, the Green Corridor curator is the correct first call.
